Avoiding Your Finances – Sign Four

Through December and January we are looking at some of the signs that show up when you’re avoiding your finances. If you want the video summary and my tips on addressing some of the signs then head over to bit.ly/wa7signs and register for the email series.

The fourth sign you might be avoiding dealing with your money is if you keep trying all the new shiny things.

You’ve tried

  • all the bookkeeping softwares, twice, and still haven’t committed
  • reading all the finance books but still don’t have a budget
  • six receipt capture tools but still have paper receipts somewhere around here
  • transferring your credit card balance but somehow now you have two credit card debts instead of one
  • you’ve lost count of the different methodologies and principles that seem like the best thing since sliced bread

Trying the thing isn’t the problem, it’s when you refuse to commit and just keep jumping from one thing to the next without ever giving it a second date.

Yep, I know things aren’t always going to be perfect but there isn’t ONE magic system that will fix everything and address every need you may ever have.

And yes it’s more than likely you are going to need more than one system to deal with everything finance and money management. And you’ll certainly need multiple processes and checklists. You’ll need different systems and different approaches for the different aspects of your finances. And probably slight variation for business and personal finances.

Remember, the best system is the one you use. Do you need more bells and whistles than you know how to use?

What could you do this week to streamline and make your finance life easier?
